IRLHost vs IRLServer: Comparing SRT Relay Services for IRL Streamers

IRLHost vs IRLServer

Both IRLHost and IRLServer offer cloud-hosted SRT relay servers for IRL streamers. You point your encoder at the relay, and it bonds your WiFi and mobile data into one stronger connection — the main reason to use either service instead of streaming straight to Twitch or Kick. If you already run OBS at home, both also give it a public address to pull from, so there is no port forwarding needed. Neither sends directly to Twitch or Kick on its own — OBS (or IRLHost Pro's cloud OBS) does that.

The flow for both: Phone/encoder → Relay → OBS → Twitch/Kick

SRTLA bonding and H.265

Both services support SRTLA bonding, combining your WiFi and mobile data into one connection for more bandwidth and fewer drops. IRLHost is codec-agnostic and passes through H.265 streams without any configuration if your encoder supports it. IRLServer also supports SRTLA with their own custom optimisations for stream stability.

Hosting locations

IRLHost runs servers in Nuremberg (Germany), Helsinki (Finland), Ashburn (Virginia), Hillsboro (Oregon), and Singapore, all on 100% green energy.

IRLServer runs servers in Helsinki (Finland), Sandefjord (Norway), Chicago (Illinois), Hillsboro (Oregon), and Singapore.

Encoder compatibility

Both services work with any SRT-compatible encoder: Moblin, IRL Pro, Larix, Belabox hardware, OBS Studio, FFmpeg, and more.

Built-in features

IRLHost includes IRLHost Link, a desktop app that runs on your home PC. It automatically switches OBS to a BRB scene when your signal drops out and back to live when it recovers, so your Twitch or Kick stream stays live during dropouts. It also handles Twitch and Kick chat commands and can restart OBS on crash, all without any manual setup. IRLHost also includes real-time stream health monitoring.

IRLServer includes automatic scene switching, drop protection, and a dashboard for managing and monitoring your endpoint. Chat commands are not listed as a feature.

Pricing

IRLServer is $9.99/month with SRTLA, scene switching, drop protection, and unlimited bandwidth included.

IRLHost is €11.99/month + VAT with SRTLA, H.265, IRLHost Link scene switching, Twitch and Kick chat commands, and a stream health dashboard included.

Which should you choose?

Choose IRLHost if:

  • You want Twitch and Kick chat commands built in
  • You want IRLHost Link for automatic scene switching and crash recovery
  • You need a server in Germany or Ashburn (Virginia)

Consider IRLServer if:

  • You specifically need a server in Sandefjord, Norway
  • You want the lower base price at $9.99/month
  • You do not need chat commands or IRLHost Link
